Expect a supportive environment where you can freely write your stories. You don't need to like poetry, or writing, or reading. You don't need to know the rules of grammar, or spelling, or have a large vocabulary. All you need is to show up to class. Feel free to bring a preferred pen, paper or journal. Raffle prizes and snacks weekly.
Writings from the workshop, if the participant wishes, will be published in My Life is Poetry, an anthology of writings from the workshop published in May 2008. Each participant that voluntarily submits his or her writings will receive a copy of My Life is Poetry, a book to be published at the end of the workshop.
There will be a big public book release party on June 22, 2008 at 3:00 PM.
Sponsored by a grant from The Department of Cultural Affairs: City of Los Angeles
